The sadistic and shadow-shrouded truck driver Rusty Nails has hijacked the CB airwaves once again, brutally reclaiming the road as his personal playground of slaughter. When four friends call out for help after their car breaks down during a cross country trip to Las Vegas, it looks as though professional mutilator Rusty has found himself some new playmates. In this high-octane sequel, Kyle Schmid (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE) heads a cast which includes genre regulars Nicki Aycox (JEEPERS CREEPERS II) and Nick Zano (FINAL DESINATION 4).
Review: This sequel is by no means a bad movie but like most direct to DVD sequels it does nothing new for the genre. The big problem I have with the film is the lack of need for a sequel. Very much like Rest Stop 2 the film is not badly done but lacks any reason. By that I mean the movie is the exact same premise of the first film with a small twist. This time some teens have stolen from Rusty Nails and he sets out to introduce them to his world of justice.
At times gorey, but at other times very tame the film is a mix of 'ok' writing, no scares and some moments of carnage... but very limited. I would say that this is on par with Rest Stop 2 as far as quality and writing goes but Rest Stop 2 was much gorier. Joy Ride 2 is a rent at best. If you really liked the first one you will probably find the sequel mildly entertaining. If you didnt like the first one.... dont take this one for a Joy Ride.
